Creative residential design and architectural photography from Manchester.

We design spaces that breathe and photograph the moments that matter.

Looking to improve your home?

Planning an extension, renovation or home improvement project?

I'm a local architect based in Didsbury, helping homeowners across South Manchester and Cheshire create thoughtful, practical homes that work beautifully for everyday life.

From early ideas and property advice through to planning applications and detailed drawings, I'll guide you through the process clearly and personally.

Who We Are

Studio FranK is a creative studio working across residential architecture and photography.

On paper, two different things. In reality, they come from the same place — a curiosity about how people live, how spaces feel, and how light and detail shape everyday life.

On the architecture side, I work with homeowners who want to extend, renovate or rethink their home. Not with a standard solution, but by understanding how a space needs to work for the specific people living in it. Some clients arrive with a clear vision. Others just know something isn't quite right. Both are a perfectly good place to start.

The photography side serves architects, designers and property professionals who want their work captured properly — with clarity, atmosphere and the same attention to detail that went into making it.

Different services, same mindset. Curiosity, clarity, and a tendency to notice too much.

The Person Behind It

Fran Katerbaum

Architect | ARB | RIBA

Born in Germany, shaped by London, now based in Manchester with my family.

After 20+ years within large organisations, I decided to take a different path and build a small studio of my own - one centred around thoughtful design, close collaboration with clients and a life that leaves room for family, photography and the things that matter most.

This studio brings together two creative things I've always loved: architecture and photography.

One shapes space. The other captures its atmosphere.

Today I work on homes and architectural imagery for people who appreciate simplicity, good light and carefully considered design.
